Senior Athalia Lugo was chosen as Naples High School’s winner for the Superintendent’s Fall Art Gallery Award Ceremony that occurred on Oct. 30.
All grade levels from every school in Collier County selected students to represent them in the art gallery.
“I was really surprised to be honest,” Lugo said. “There’s so many really talented artists at our school, so I never thought mine would be picked out of all of us.”
Art students throughout the district submitted their work to be judged by their respective art teachers. All the winners received certificates and a chance to have their art displayed at the Martin Luther King Jr. Administrative Building.
Athalia was very excited and positively surprised with the decisions of teachers to use her artwork to represent Naples High School.
“Athalia is a wonderful student in my AP-Studio 2D art class,” Daniella Rosset, the studio 2D teacher commented. “I think what set Athalia’s artwork apart from others was her attention to detail, precision with using Photoshop, and how crisp her original photograph was.”
