The Florida Future Educators of America’s 4th Annual South Florida Regional Conference was held Nov. 16 at Florida International University. The Naples High Chapter of FFEA won an impressive 3rd place in the academic competition.

This conference provides an opportunity for high school members to participate in many activities. Among these activities are: competitions, networking with new and experienced teachers, leadership development, and career workshops.

“FFEA assists Naples high school teachers, local charities, and volunteers locally, members go to conferences and competitions with other FFEA chapters to compete,” Mrs. Hendry explained.

There are individual competitions including the Job Interview Competition. The job interview competition gives students the opportunity to practice job interview skills, write a cover letter and a proper resume.

The judges in this competition review cover letters, resumes, and interviews. There are also public speaking, leadership, and ethical dilemma competitions.

“The FFEA supports kids and encourage them to have a bright future,” junior Karaline Gray explained.

FFEA was created by the Florida Department of Education in 1986. It provides an opportunity for high school students to become familiar with career opportunities in education.

The Naples High Chapter of the FFEA meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
