Naples High School held its second annual Academic Signing during lunch in the auditorium May 17.

Academic Signing Day is a new event run by Collier County Public Schools that recognizes the academic achievements of high school seniors planning to continue their education.

All college bound seniors were able to have the chance to sign a banner with their intended school’s name. There were 21 seniors specifically recognized who have earned academic scholarships while maintaining other academic achievements.

“It’s the national day for academic signing,” NHS assistant principal Dr. Denise Lindheim stated. “It is something we are doing here at Collier County to recognize our seniors who are going to post-secondary education with a 3.8 unweighted GPA.”

Senior Scholar Night followed the annual Academic Signing day in the auditorium on May 21.

“Personally amazing, it is a big accomplishment to have to know that everything you’ve done worked out in the end,” recognized senior Matthew Limbacher stated. “To look up on the board and go ‘oh, that’s me’ tells you, you’re doing good.”
