The Naples High JV girls basketball team put up a fight and lost by three points at the end of the game against district competitor Golden Gate on Jan. 11. The final score was 33-30 with Golden Gate leaving with a win.

The coaches for Naples High School strive to help the players succeed.

“Our coach is tough on us, but he wants us to succeed so that’s why he is so tough,”  Ava Loubert said.

The girls started out with a 5-0 lead against Golden Gate. For 20 minutes straight, the Eagles were scoreless, making the score 13-10 with Golden Gate in the lead.

The score at halftime was 20-19 with Naples in the lead, with most of the points coming off of layups.

The girls came out of the locker room after halftime with a winning attitude.

Golden Gate came out ready to play as well, as they took the lead 23-20 coming out of the half. Naples hit back to back threes making the score 33-29.

The Eagles then made a free throw to make the score 30-33. Naples couldn’t quite seal the deal as the final score of the game was 33-30 Golden Gate.
