Lake Park Elementary School is offering a scholarship to qualifying alumni. The scholarship can be used towards any college or post-secondary institution.

In order to apply, students can get the application form in the office or online. Applicants need to be former Lake Park students. All forms have to be completed and submitted by 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.

“They come down and get the Collier County Public School scholarship application,” Naples High counselor Michele Fineis said. “We have copies in the guidance office, or they can find it on the district website.”

Once students fill out the application, they need to bring all the necessary documents to the guidance office to be turned in.

“They bring all the applications and documents that it asks for and an essay to the counseling office. It’s the same with all scholarships,” Fineis said. “They would bring it in by the deadline and Ms. Kathy Morretta has them sign on a piece of paper the date and time that they’re turning it in.”

There are no limitations on which college the scholarship may be used towards. After the deadline for submission ends, they will be reviewed by the school committee.

“The Naples High School Scholarship Committee will select one student to receive the scholarship,” Lake Park counselor Janice Saba said.

This is the first scholarship that Lake Park has offered, and teachers and staff have raised the money for it through fundraising.

“We have raised the money from our ‘Jeans for Charity’ days,” Saba said. “On our jeans day, staff can wear jeans and donate money towards this scholarship.”

All students interested in the scholarship can see their counselor for more information.

“Our faculty and staff decided to offer this scholarship to help financially support a former Lake Park Panther go to college,” Saba said.
