The 2024 Raptor R is a top-of-the-line off-road truck. The 2024 model keeps the muscly 5.2L supercharged V8, but it now has a healthy 720 horsepower, which is 20 horsepower above the 2023 model.

The truck kept its responsive 640-pound foot of torque and the Gen 5 Whipple supercharger. Ford says the 20 horsepower increase is due to reduced air inlet losses and optimized engine calibration.

The truck sports a new modular front bumper and a more aggressive, open grille. The new grille lets more air through to the radiator and has LED surrounds. The truck also has a refreshed front end, new exterior graphics and a new tail light design.

In comparison to its competitor, the Ram TRX, the Raptor comes out on top. The Raptor is 700 pounds lighter, with a weight of 6,100 pounds, while the TRX weighs in at 6,800 pounds. The Ram TRX has only 702 horsepower, which, combined with its heavier weight, gives the Raptor R a much better power-to-weight ratio.

Ford Performance improved the suspension system from the previous Raptor model. The truck now has Fox dual live valve shocks, which allows the truck to control compression and rebound. The 2023 model was a single live valve system, which could only control compression.

The new shocks make the overall driving experience much better and improve off-road performance. The new suspension adjusts based on the drive mode, optimizing it for any conditions. Overall, the 2024 Ford Raptor R is the most capable full-size off-road truck.
