The fashion industry is a constantly developing business and what was considered popular two weeks ago could easily be a trend of the past in the world of style. As summer approaches, new trends are arising, and many teenagers will change their wardrobe accordingly.
“Sometimes I will see a few outfits on social media and try to recreate them, but other times I like to experiment with my own taste,” freshman Katherine McLendon said.
Expression for a lot of teens is done through how they dress. Do It Yourself (DIY) friendship bracelets is a trend that is slowly becoming popular again. A staple clothing or jewelry piece in the summer is different for everyone.
“For me, a good pair of denim jeans and shorts is a staple to anyone’s closet,” McLendon said. “I usually start my outfits with a basic bottom, and build up from there.”
Picking a fashionable outfit built to survive the summer heat can be difficult, but crop tops for teen girls and five inseam shorts for teen boys have been quite popular in 2021.
“It’s so hot in the summer that I just end up wearing shorts and a T-shirt, but I try to buy graphic tees that have some sort of interesting design,” freshman Robby Diers said.
Graphic tees have been popular for both men and women in today’s world of casual fashion. Stores like Urban Outfitters, Free People, Shein and Tillys are well-liked places to buy clothes that meet up to the summer trends.
“Fashion isn’t about dressing up for others, it’s about feeling good in your own skin and having fun by changing your appearance every once in a while,” freshman Caprice Morley said.
