With the new year less than a month away, it can be helpful to find ways to improve in 2024. To make effective changes in your life you can use S.M.A.R.T. goals.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Specific: Make the goals specific. Determine the who, what, where, when and why.

Measurable: Progress must be measurable in some way in order for you to know how much you’re advancing toward your goal.

Achievable: The goal must be attainable. Realistic expectations and knowing both your limits and capabilities are essential.

Relevant: The goal must be important to you and be beneficial. Think about the impact on your life caused by completing this goal.

Time-bound: Set a deadline for your goal.

This is how you will achieve your goals. A system is the process used in order to reach a goal. It breaks down the goal into smaller goals such as monthly, weekly, daily or hourly goals. Goals set the direction. Systems are the things you implement that will help you achieve your goal.

Physical Health
Avoid ultra-processed foods. Everyone’s diet is different. Eat things that you know will be nutritious for your body. If you feel that you are not getting enough sleep, try to rest more. Exercising regularly is also important for good physical health.

Mental Health
Check in with yourself. If you are struggling and are aware of it, seek help from a professional.

Trying New Things and Having New Experiences
If you’ve been wanting to try something new, but are unsure about it, give it a go. You won’t know if you’ll like it or not if you never try it. If it turns out it isn’t for you, you can always stop. On the other hand, if the experience was something you enjoyed, it could be the start of a new hobby or passion.
