Naples High School girls soccer started off their season with a few losses but bounced back with back to back wins against Community School of Naples and Palmetto Ridge. The team’s first district game will be played tonight at Immokalee High School.

Coach Adam Weikel has an outline for how he wants this season to play out.

“Continuing to focus on our positioning, playing together, and our communication needs to improve,” Weikel said.

The team’s top goal for the season is to win districts. To do that the team must be prepared, and come up with game plans for that fit for the teams they play.

Some returning key players on the team to look out for include Sara Meredith, Karaline Gray, and Brianna Garcia, as well as goalkeepers Lydia Cartwright and Caitlin Crowley.

“This year we have our new coach, Coach Weikel,” senior Ellie Clissold said. “He has tactics that I think will improve our playing style and make us improve against Gulf Coast.”

Coach Weikel has 4 years of experience coaching at the high school level, and 9 years as a men’s college coach.

The team will play in a district match against Immokalee Thursday night at 6pm.
