Every morning Naples High students are forced to wake up before the sun to make it to school on time. Naples starts at 7:05 a.m while most students get to school by 6:50 a.m.
“I get no time to sleep,” freshman Emily Wuerful said. “By the time I get done with homework it’s already 12:00 a.m and I wake up at 5:00 a.m so it’s only five hours of sleep each night.”
Students are having trouble getting up each morning which is causing students to not focusing during school and being very tired throughout the day.
“By first period I’m half asleep,” freshman Theresa Majeski said. “I wish school started later like middle school does so I could have better rest.”
Some students are against school starting later.
“I would rather lose sleep then have to stay at school longer,” freshman CJ Bussel said. “We would get out at school at like 3:50 or later just like middle school.”
Students are mostly in favor of the bright idea to have High school start later.
“It would be a good idea,” Wuerful said. “I really want to be able to atleast get a extra hour of sleep.”
Collier County has taken the idea into consideration, however, it would mess up bus schedules completely since they pick up high school first, then elementary, and then middle school students. It would result in changing all schools time schedules.
